Товары, поступившие из-за границы на территорию страны в качестве дополнительных ресурсов потребительского рынка, продукции инвестиционного назначения, сырья, полуфабрикатов, изделий для обработки. Осуществление внешнеторговой операции по импорту товаров, увеличивающих национальное богатство страны, фиксируется на момент, когда товары фактически пересекают таможенную границу. Товары, закупленные за границей и находящиеся в свободных зонах (commercial free zones) и складах национальных таможен, считаются поступившими на экономическую территорию страны. К категории "импорта" относятся товары, ввезенные в страну для переработки, доработки и ремонта с целью их дальнейшего экспортирования.
